Description

Miriam’s Kitchen works to end chronic homelessness in Washington, D.C. by combining healthy, made-from-scratch meals with personalized social services. Its case managers help guests assess immediate and long-term needs, pursue housing and benefits, obtain identification, connect with mental health services, and access practical resources such as clothing, toiletries, and a consistent mailing address.

Through its Permanent Supportive Housing program, Miriam’s Kitchen pairs housing subsidy vouchers with case management. Staff support clients throughout the housing process and help them retain stable housing by coordinating with landlords and service providers, while also supporting health, wellness, budgeting, daily living, employment, and benefits goals. The organization also offers a housing-first, person-centered bridge housing approach for D.C. residents experiencing long-term homelessness.
